Welcome to Sunway Safaris. In 1994 Shaun and I started with minibus, one itinerary and a huge amount of enthusiasm for travel in Africa. Today we are running more than 250 safaris each year on 13 different routes in 10 countries. We have a fleet of custom built safari trucks, offices in both South Africa and Botswana, and are a young, growing company with over 50 employees, all as enthusiastic and passionate about Africa as we are.
We operate safaris for the adventurous and young at heart, specialising in small group participation camping and lodge tours throughout Southern Africa. We strive to offer travel experiences full of adventure, incredible wildlife, scenic beauty and cultural interactions. We pride ourselves in creating holidays of a lifetime.
Our itineraries have been perfected over 16 years of touring Southern Africa with an emphasis on “getting out and doing things”. We offer several easy to moderate walks, mokoro and canoe trails, dhow sailing, game drives, swimming and other activities throughout the various tours.

We understand that there are several options available to you when choosing your African safari. Small groups
By travelling with a maximum of 12 people, you are able to witness Africa and have first hand contact with this amazing continent and its people without being a negative influence. This has been a key factor in our continued success. Our trips appeal to a wide variety of ages. The average is 37 – with most being aged 25 to 60. The range of travellers gives a variety of perspectives which adds to the experience of each safari.
2 Sunway tour guides
Group leaders are the key to any safari. On a Sunway safari you will travel with 2 qualified and registered field guides (FGASA). 2 guides as crew, not a guide and a driver, means maximum knowledge, informative and interesting trips. Our guides have a passion for Africa, her people and her wildlife, and they love nothing more than sharing their knowledge with you.
Guaranteed departures
On selected departures on each itinerary we have guaranteed departure dates. All other departures operate with a minimum of 4 clients. Please contact our office for a list of the guaranteed departure dates.
All inclusive price
When I travel myself, I always feel that if I’m in a country I should find and see the best parts. So when planning the Sunways routes we ensure that each trip provides the best inclusions and experiences. For example, if you go to Botswana – you have to visit the national parks in an open 4WD – it is the essence of the Botswana wilderness. If you tour Zambia, then you must visit South Luangwa NP and do a game walk with the local scout.
When booking on a Sunway Safari there are no hidden costs. All of the entrance fees are included, and a wide range of activities, and most meals. We have included many highlights in our tours, so that you will see and experience the highlights without having to pay extra when you get there. So when you decide on witch safari company to book with, look carefully at what you’re actually getting. You may only visit a place once, make sure you get the most out of it.
Safety
All of our vehicles are custom built to ensure comfortable and safe touring. Each is constructed, by a authorised passenger vehicle builder, to the latest safety requirements, with a safety shell, and every seat has a lap belt. This gives you piece of mind when travelling with Sunway Safaris on the often demanding African roads.
Responsible travel
Our commitment to sustainable & responsible tourism is reflected in our low impact travel style where all we take is photographs and all we leave is our footprints. Being an African company we have the grassroots contacts to make a real difference in the lives of the people whosw lands we visit.
Solo Travellers
Travelling alone?….no problem. About half of all Sunway clients book as individuals. We organise for you to share a tent and should you end up having a tent to yourself there is no single supplement. On cabin safaris single supplements will apply unless you request to share and we have another single person wanting to share.

We have more than 16 years experience I panning tours through Southern Africa. As such, our itineraries and routes have been perfected over many years ensuring that your tour will run smoothly. We visit the highlights of Southern Africa, but ensure that you do not follow the well trodden tourist track. Being adventure travellers ourselves, we know how to plan trips that give you a broad experience of countries that you will visit.
